How To Choose A Boxing Glove

Once you become a Professional.. you'll learn and find the Perfect Pair for your fists..... well, until then
you may need some  expert advice.

Are all gloves the same?

Not all punching gloves are made for real hardcore boxing. As you and me, not all are same.. everybody are different, aren't we?. The brands which I don't recommend are the ones very easily accessible and seen in all sporting markets like Big 5 Sports, pro sports, and Sports Authority. Worst punching gloves are the Everlast ones that look like the classic but they aren't worth the money you spend on them. Try not to buy some of these, because, i hope you already knew the greatest possession of every boxer is his fists. Hurting them would be the last thing you would ever want to do.

Does costly gloves work better?

Kids, not all things you shell out money on, is always good. You wouldn't forget that the food you had on the streets, are way better than the one's you eat at top hotels. But, there is also a fact that, "You get the result for, how much you pay", and that's true. A 30 dollar priced glove from an average brand, will be way better than a glove double the price from a well established brand. Try to use common sense, and for the first purchase, you have to be very careful. I would prefer you go to a store and purchase, instead of purchasing online for the very first time.

Is there only one type of glove?

  • Bag Gloves – As the name suggests, these are perfectly made to hit the bag. They are small, lean, trim and perfectly crafted for punching hard. Well, of course, their appearance is never important to us. These gloves are designed with essential padding, so that you don't hurt your knuckles. This is the main reason why we use a separate glove for hitting the bag.
  • Training Gloves – Training gloves are simply used for sparring, practicing moves and
everything you do in your gym or dojo other than hitting the bag. If you cant afford different gloves, this one's just for you. It's an all rounder.
  • Sparring Gloves – Like training gloves, i suggest you have a separate pair of gloves for sparring because, you don't want to injure yourself during sparring. do you? The only thing each and every coach says during a sparring session is  "Take it easy kid! This is just a sparring session". Those words are absolutely true. These gloves are designed in such a way that, you don't get yourself hurt nor your opponent, while sparring.
  • Professional Gloves –These are supposed to be your special and lucky one's as they'll only be used for the real big things. You treat these gloves with respect. These are designed in such a way that, it hurts your opponent well and at the same time, to protect you by taking some hard shots.

Is color an important factor?

The answer is, yes. Red is  supposed to be the classic color of boxing. But, you cant see it coming. The fact is light colors can be easily seen, and they help coaches identify your punches easily. If you're your training under dark conditions, these are the colors i would suggest : White, Blue, Yellow or any of these combinations. Another factor is that, these colors show the damage you've made by highlighting the blood stains.
